So, I have slacked.

Well, I have not been as diligent with this blogging thing as I had hoped... but I am feeling a renewed desire to update and hopefully it will stick with me!

We have a lot of new news!!  Just a quick update... we have been living in Athens for about 6 months and have really enjoyed it.  I've been working at Athens Regional in the ICU and have learned more that I could have imagined.  I really like the people I work with and while this job has challenged me way beyond what I could have dreamed, I really have enjoyed learning so much and have received some really great feedback. Jason has been commuting to The Kingdom (with the exception of the week of the 2011 Blizzard...)  And we have really enjoyed being back in Athens where we can go to Transmetropolitan whenever we desire!

So, fast forward to January and Jason has gotten a promotion!!  He will be in charge of all the amateur and college players across the country that play TaylorMade equipment.  I am so proud of him and he is very excited about this new job.  But with the fabulousness of this new job comes traveling 200 days a year... which will be hard but we are making some big changes to make that easier.  We are moving to Charlottesville, VA!!!  We are BEYOND ecstatic for numerous reasons:

1.  We LOVE Charlottesville.  Really, Jason talks about it all the time.
2.  We will be close to Emily and Dave!  Aka see them everyday!
3.  We will be close to Miss Amelia!! (this may be the reason we are most excited...)
4.  I am going back to school (hopefully...I have applied to UVA's FNP program and we are keeping our fingers crossed...)

And I'm sure there are other great reasons but these are the main ones!  We are so very excited.  Now all we have to do is find someone to rent our house AND find a new house in C'ville!  Keep your fingers crossed!  Cheers!

Happy 30th Birthday Jason!

I'm embarrassed.... as I wrote my new post today to kick start my actually attempting to write posts again, I found this one that I had written in July and never posted.

Well, today Jason is 30 years old... We went to the Dave Matthews concert last night in Atlanta and I don't think there could have been any better way for us to spend his 30th year eve.  We had a great time.  Because today is his big day, I thought I would list 30 things about Jason that makes him the wonderful man that he is.... how appropriate, yes?


1.  His humor and how he constantly makes me laugh.
2.  His incredible love for his family and how he makes them his number one priority.
3.  His easy going personality
4.  His amazing work ethic and ambition
5.  How much Lucy loves him and he loves her (though he would never admit it)
6.  The way he can impersonate the little boy from Big Daddy "Lasagna...cheerios!"
7.  His talented guitar playing
8.  His knack for being to fix anything that is broken (or at least work on it nonstop)
9.  His insane knowledge of movie quotes
10.  His desire to never stop learning... his current plans include learning to play piano and learning a new language.
11.  My family loves him almost as much as I do.
12.  How he can put up with my coffee addiction and during road trips is willing to drive way of course to find a Starbucks.
13.  He is a human radiator... our bed is never cold if he is in it.
14.  The way he stole my heart on our first date by driving a Subaru Outback...ha ha.
15.  His ability to crack me up with any and all Dane Cook quotes.
16.  The excited look he gets in his eye when we talk about having children one day.
17.  He will be an amazing father.
18.  Though I act like it annoys me, how you have to take 5 pictures before he will give you a real, straight smile.
19.  His family... they have welcomed me from day one and I am so lucky to be a part of such an amazing family.
20.  His incredibly calming ability.
21.  His open-mindedness and acceptance of others.  This was a major requirement of my future husband and he is the epitome of acceptance and respect... he makes me want to be a better person.
22.  His amazing "sockies" dance.
23.  How he makes me feel so safe and taken care of.  He is the best at putting my mind at ease.
24.  His love for my family... I love that he gets just as excited about seeing my family as I do.  (especially if Miss Amelia is involved!)
25.  The fact that he not only married me, but also knows that comes with baggage for life (aka Lucy).
26.  The way he always makes dinner out awkward when it comes to conversing with waitstaff... :) He keeps it interesting.
27.  That he likes to go out on Wednesday nights, drink cheap champagne, and talk to strange girls. :)
28.  That he sends random "I love you" text messages.
29.  That his last name allowed me to move up a minuscule amount in the alphabet.
30.  The fact that he loves me unconditionally.  Flaws and all.

In the words of Lake Oconee native Zac Brown, life is good at the lake.  I thought I would post some pictures of our house and the lake.  We live in a wonderful golf community with lake access that is about 1/4 of a mile from the house.  Lucy has discovered that she likes to swim so we usually end our walks with a quick dip.  I was so happy to see that she finally isn't scared of the water, though I think its the absence of waves that makes her more comfortable.  The beach is our next obstacle....

Well, we've been married for 43 days so I figure we are way late in beginning the quintessential married persons blog.  No, I've been meaning to start one of these for awhile now and since I have some time on my hands while waiting for the NCLEX I figured now is the perfect time.  Jason is busy at work since it is their busy season and I am trying to settle into life at Lake Oconee.  Between NCLEX studying and job searching, Jason and I are truly enjoying married life and it is so wonderful to finally live in the same place.

The wedding was wonderful and it was everything we could have possibly dreamed.  It was so amazing and meant so much to have all our close family and friends in one place.  I know I will probably never have that again and I made a point to soak in the moment every chance I had.  Even with a little rain and a lot of furry people ("Furries") the wedding was a success and ended with me being married to my best friend.

The honeymoon was spectacular.  We would definitely recommend the DR to anyone who desires relaxation, luxury, culture, and the friendliest people you will ever meet.  We absolutely took advantage of our time off and relaxed like pros.  We spent all day, everyday at the beach or the pool, playing ping pong, kayaking, reading, trying different fruity drinks, and eating amazing Dominican food.  I could get used to honeymooning on a yearly basis...

 

So begins our lives together on this oh-so exciting journey.  Jumping in feet first... and loving every minute of it.
